Why Form A "Culture Club?"

Java River is more than a coffee shop and internet café.

It is a Crossroads – a unique Cultural Center serving the Prairie Waters Region.

Experienced economic developers say that creativity is a key ingredient for the vitality of a given community or region.

These same experts say that the ability of a community to welcome and integrate diversity (of ideas, ethnicity and lifestyles) is a good indicator of it's potential to thrive.

For the past 5 years, Java River has been working hard to become one of the most welcoming places in the Prairie Waters Region.  Our mission has been to build community and to foster creative expression through food, drink, conversation and art.

We think we've made a good start, but we need your help to sustain this work and to bring it to a new level.

We seek to identify and connect people in our region and beyond to work together and make our communities more welcoming and dynamic.

We want to form partnerships and alliances with people and organizations from the Twin Cities, Sioux Falls, Fargo, Alexandria, Morris, Willmar, Marshall and Watertown   and all points in between to create vibrant models for the small, rural and globally connected community of the 21^st century.

We cherish "the small, the personal, the handmade and the local" and yet we seek to have "vital relations with the wide world."

We will "build this road by walking."  Getting together over good food and drink, in an aesthetically pleasing setting, seems like a fine way to start the journey.

Hence the "Culture Club" concept.  Please join and help us shape it.
