Barbara Schwenk
Bio:
Barbara discovered her love of art at a young age. Combining her great
love of animals and drawing, she spent a great deal of time drawing horses.
She won several awards for her equine portraits while in elementary school.
In the early 70s, Barbara was the youngest member of the Rochester Artist
Group, where she began her training in drawing the human form. Barbara
went on to study art at St. Cloud State University, earning a Bachelor
of Science degree in fine arts and majoring in Life Drawing and Painting.
Barbara prefers to work in graphite pencil, colored pencil, watercolor
and acrylic, either singly or in combination. Subjects of her artwork
include: human portraiture, animal portraiture, still life, mechanical
portraiture (airplanes, motorcycles, autos, etc.) and fantasy.
Barbara takes commissions and teaches art classes privately, through
Community Education, and through home schools.
Barbara resides in Appleton with her daughters, Haley and Whitney, four
cats, a hamster, and an iguana.
