Kyle Hermanson

Bio:
Kyle Hermanson, artist and published illustrator, who in recent years turned his talents to acrylic and glass painting in contemporary and abstract styles. He is the recipient of many awards, including three-time winner, best-in-state in the Aeronautics Art Competition of Minnesota.

Kyle is a native of Montevideo, MN. After two years at the Montevideo high school, he transferred to the Perpich Center for Arts Education, located in Golden Valley, MN, where he graduated with honors. He has studied art at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, WI, and is currently studying art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where he plans to further his experiences and find a career in the world of art.

Entitled: The Everything Show, the work on display shows the dynamic and stylistic range of Kyle's work. Ranging from landscapes to illustrative portraits, impressionistic to somewhat surreal, all the work has at least one thing in common: a sense of narrative. Through the use of different mediums and styles, every painting creates a critique of a particular expressive mood. Taken for granted most of the time, the focus on "the sense of place" really dominates the theme of this show. The overall goal of this particular show was to tell as many unique stories as possible.

Working in several mediums ranging from sculpting lard to creating oil relief paintings, Kyle believes that by not focusing in on one particular medium, his ability to express his ideas through art increases. His subjects are also of a wide range. He has created series of works capturing human emotions and their relationship to color, realistic depictions of figures and cityscapes, and the abstract theories of time, energy, and music - specifically jazz. Although Kyle has worked in a multitude of mediums, he prefers working with acrylics over any other medium due to their versatility and color quality.

Kyle's career has only just begun, however, he has continuously moved to greater heights. His work has been exhibited in these Metro locations: Patrick's Cabaret, the Ford Center Gallery, NSP/Excel Energy corporate offices, University of Minnesota - McNamarara Alumni Center, Perpich Center for Arts Education Gallery, The Melting Pot Gallery, and the Minnesota State Capitol Building. Kyle's work is also on continuous display at the Stable Art Gallery at Madden's Resort on Gull Lake, near Brainerd. He has also shown his work at the Layton Gallery of Art, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as several other locations in the Milwaukee area.

"My desire is to create art that celebrates nature, life, and music through the simplification, distortion, and amplification of color, form, and movement."
