Kyle Hermanson, a professional artist, in recent years has turned his talents to acrylic and watercolor painting in contemporary and abstract styles. He is the recipient of many awards, including three-time winner, best-in-state in the Aeronautics Art Competition of Minnesota.
Kyle is a native of Montevideo, MN. After two years at the Montevideo high school, he transferred to the Perpich Center for Arts Education, located in Golden Valley, MN, where he graduated with honors. He has studied art at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and is currently studying art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where he plans to further his experiences and find a career in the world of art.
The paintings displayed are part of a series that derives inspiration from the current urban scene that many of his generation now enjoy. Entitled: Wine Me, Dine Me, Love Me, the goal of this series is not to achieve anatomical perfection or a state of photo realism - far from it actually - rather, the goal of this series is to illustrate whimsical characters enjoying life to the fullest. Dramatically more illustrative in comparison to past series, Kyle is stretching his artistic abilities in a colorful and exaggerated style that depicts a world of fun and friendship that all, in some way, can relate to. Handled in a most sophisticated, yet whimsical way, Kyle reveals a way of life common to most trendy urban locations today.
Kyle has also worked in several mediums ranging from sculpting lard to creating oil relief paintings. His subjects are also of a wide range. He has created series of works capturing human emotions and their relationship to color, realistic depictions of figures and cityscapes, and the abstract theories of time, energy, and music - specifically jazz. Although Kyle has worked in a multitude of mediums, he prefers working with acrylics and water colors over an other due to their versatility and color quality.
Kyle's career has only just begun, however, he has continuously moved to greater heights. His work has been exhibited in these Metro locations: Patrick's Cabaret, the Ford Center Gallery, NSP/Excel Energy corporate offices, University of Minnesota - McNamarara Alumni Center, Perpich Center for Arts Education Gallery, The Melting Pot Gallery, and the Minnesota State Capitol Building. Kyle has also exhibited his art work at the Layton Gallery of Art, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as several other locations in the Milwaukee area.
"My desire is to create art that celebrates nature, life, and music through the simplification, distortion, and amplification of color, form, and movement."
