Katia Andreeva
Bio:
Katia discovered her love for art as a child in the far east of Russia. Her parents and grandparents, mindful of her talent, fostered her artistic potential early on. By the age of three, she had her first set of paints and art books and she has been avidly painting ever since. After intensive schooling in her youth, Katia qualified to enter the Academy of Decorative Arts in St. Petersburg. It was there that she studied fashion design and began to refine her talent.
In 1994, Katia and her husband moved to the U.S. and settled in Granite Falls where she built a foundation of eager clientele with her painted eggs, broaches, barrettes and eventually, her watercolors.
Today, her work is represented by Gallery owners in Taos, New Mexico – she is that good! Ever mindful of her roots, part of the proceeds from the sale of her work goes to support an orphanage in her homeland.
Her own words convey the essence of her ever-blossoming unique style: "the value of art involves more than merely capturing an image. . . you have to make it breathe." Katia's heart embodies her words; it lives.
